Buffalo Cheese
The Maleny Buffalo cheese range is created from pure Water Buffalo milk, sourced from a local Maleny plateau farm. Compared to cow’s milk, Buffalo milk is white in colour, with a mild, earthy flavour and a higher yield of protein and components. Buffalo products are a low cholesterol option. Due to our buffalo farmer’s small-herd size, and the fact that buffalos produce low quantities of milk, our buffalo cheese products vary in availability and can only be purchased online or at our shop.

Buffalo dairy products are gaining in popularity across Australia. This is owing in part to the unique qualities of buffalo milk which may provide a more digestible alternative for those who find it difficult to tolerate cow’s milk. As well as the distinct mild, earthy flavours which result. Buffalo milk is also said to be high in antioxidants.
Our buffalo cheese is made with pure Queensland buffalo milk. We are so lucky to have supply from a local farm here on the Hinterland. Maleny Buffalo farm is owned by Margaret Thompson in Witta, only a short drive from our cheese factory. While the milk yield from buffalo cows is lower than bovine cows, the cheese yield from the milk is much higher than cow’s milk.
We encourage you to try our unique range of buffalo products. We don’t make mozzarella, or other stretched curd buffalo products, out of respect for other buffalo milk processors close by. Our buffalo milk cheeses have a mild flavour, are creamy and highly palatable. We’re sure you will enjoy them as part of your cheese journey.
